We believe that great sound changes everything. It makes your morning commute bearable, your workout energetic, and your relaxation deeper. But finding that sound shouldn’t require an engineering degree.
Why We Started
Sound Mavericks was born from frustration. In 2025, our founder Mark Folksman realized the audio industry was broken. He spent weeks researching new headphones, only to find reviews full of confusing graphs but missing the human truth.
Mark wanted to bridge the gap between technical specs and real life. He built Sound Mavericks to provide reviews that are honest, easy to understand, and respectful of your wallet.
How We Review (The “Maverick Method”)
We don’t just read the box. Every product on this site goes through our Real-Life Gauntlet:
- The “Coffee Shop” Test: We test Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) in busy cafes and on loud subways—not just inside silent rooms.
- The “Maverick Reference Mix”: We test every speaker and headphone against our custom playlist, “The Sonic Truth.” This list covers everything from the deep bass of Billie Eilish to the complex highs of classical jazz to ensure the gear handles every genre.
- The “Pocket Check”: If a charging case is too bulky to fit in standard jeans, we tell you immediately.
